Mrs. Jas. Lavell Taken by Death
Life-Long Resident of City Succumbs After Four-Months' Illness
Mrs. James Lavell, an esteemed life-long resident of Chippewa Falls, passed away at her home, 811 W. Grand avenue, at five o'clock this morning after an illness of four months.
Mrs. Lavell was born Mary Ellen Powers, September 19, 1865, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Michael and Johanna Powers. On May 3, 1882, she was married to James Lavell at Notre Dame church. She is survived by three daughters, Katherine, Marie and Esther; two sons, Leo and James, all of this city. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ann E. Morris, Mrs. Esther Quinlan, Katherine and Agnes Powers of the city, and two brothers, John J. Powers of Cloquet, Minn., and Joseph F. Powers of Troy, Mont. Her husband and one son, Frederick, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lavell was loved by a large circle of friends and her death will be grieved by many. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
The remains will be taken from the Morris Funeral Home to the residence Sunday evening where they will lie in state until the hour of the funeral. Services will be held at 8:30 o'clock from the home and 9 o'clock from Notre Dame church on Tuesday morning. Interment will be made in Hope cemetery.
