Leona M. Manning
Miss Leona M. Manning, 81, a retired school teacher, died Sunday in Rosebud Community Hospital, Forsyth. She had lived in Billings until 1972, when she entered a nursing home in Forsyth.
For more than 30 years she had taught in schools at Sanders, Hathaway, Rosebud, Vananda, Rancher, Big Horn, Greycliff and other Montana towns.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Parish at Hysham.
She was born June 30, 1895 in Chippewa Falls, Wis., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Manning. The family moved to Billings in 1905, then to Hysham, where she graduated in 1910 from high school.
She attended the college at Dillon, and was graduated at the University of Montana.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Henricks of Billings; two brothers, State Senator Dave Manning and Jim Manning, both of Hysham; and nieces and nephews.
Rosary was at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Beals Mortuary. Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Forsyth Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The Rev. Thomas McTague was celebrant. Burial was in the Forsyth Cemetery.
