John P. Powers, 87, died Saturday at his home, 206A W. Third St., following a stroke suffered three weeks ago.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Notre Dame Catholic Church at Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Louis A. Dietrich will officiate and burial will be made in the Hope Cemetery.
The body reposed at the Rembs Funeral Home until noon Monday when it was taken to the Herzog and Weber Funeral Home at Chippewa Falls. Rosary services were held here Sunday by the Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Powers was born Nov. 24, 1870, in Chippewa Falls and was married there June 25, 1901, to Maud Lynch who died Dec. 8, 1950.
They lived in Chippewa Falls, Cloquet, Minn., and Morton, Minn. In 1954 he came to Marshfield to make his home with his daughter, Miss Joan Powers.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include four daughters, Miss Joan Powers, R.N., Marshfield; Mrs. Paul A. (Mary) Sanders, Mount Prospect, Ill.; Mrs. Harold A. (Anne) Schwartz, and Miss Norah C. Powers, both of Milwaukee; two sons, J. Weldon Powers, Walker, Minn., and Richard P. Powers, Bethesda, Md., and 10 grandchildren.
Six sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
